Breaking Up

She sat there mouth open in disbelief, looking down at her phone. On the screen was a picture of her boyfriend, Will and that bitch Miranda. He had finally been caught, after numerous times of convincing her that they were “just friends.”

“I knew it,” she said as a tear began to fall from the corner of her eye. “I knew it and I didn’t do anything.”

Enraged, she began to blame herself for not trying harder, but came to realize that it wasn’t her fault which settled her down. She had always done everything for him in their relationship, and he took advantage of the situation.

Wiping the tears from her eyes, she opened Wills contact to call and break things off. Knowing damn well that he was about to say anything and everything to try and keep her around, she prepared herself for what was to come.

“You’re a boss ass bitch, and you do NOT need him.” she repeated as the phone began to ring.

She paced back and forth around her room waiting for an answer. Each ring felt like an eternity.

“Hi you’ve reach Will, sorry I can’t come to the phone right now, but if you leave me a message I’ll be sure to get back with you.”

She left a quick, and stern, “Call me” and promptly hung up the phone. A few moments later, her phone lit up. It was a message from Will.

“Hey sorry, I left my phone on ‘do not disturb’. What’s up?”

She left it on read, hoping that he would get the hint to actually call her. Will, being the idiot that he was, didn’t get the hint, so he continued texting her asking if everything was ‘OK’.

After all of his texts went unanswered, it finally occurred to him that he should call. She wasn’t going to make it easy for him though. She waited until the very last ring to answer.

Before he could even form a word she came out with it. “We’re done. I don’t want to be with you anymore.”

“Are you kidding me right now!?” he questioned.

“No, I’m so done with you Will. You’re disgusting,” she exclaimed. “I know you’re sneaking around with Miranda behind my back. I’m not you’re little toy that you can just play minds games with.”

Will fumbled his words trying to come up with any excuse to keep her around.

“I don’t want to hear it, Will. I am done. I hope you and Miranda have a nice life together. Bye.”

Ending the call she threw her phone on her bed. Sitting back down on her bed, she took a deep breath and wiped the tears from her eyes. She felt free. Free from his bullshit and free to do whatever she wanted without his constant questioning.

Picking her phone back up, and unlocking it she quickly deleted the messages from Will and his number. She then went to the group text she had with her friends. Typing out a few messages, and deleting them, she finally settled on, “I did it. I broke up with Will.”
